Fundraiser for the family of Lorraine "Ryderchick" Murray

One week ago Lorraine left my life and the lives of many of her close friends when her young life came to an unexpected end. At this point there are many unanswered questions and we are all hoping that we can notify her next-of-kin as soon as possible because as of the creation of this event, they have not been notified.

Many of us knew Lorraine from school, others from work, as 'ryders', or just from around the way. Lorraine was a 'student' in a cooking class I held back in late 2007 and ever since then, we have kept in touch. We motivated each other to work out and she even joined my dodgeball team in 2008. When I had registered to complete my first beginner's triathlon, Lorraine was right there and registered with me. Unfortunately, we slacked off and couldnt get ourselves together to do it. We often spoke of registering again, but as many of you know, life gets busy and you don't get around to doing the things you want to.

I have decided that I will complete the Give it A Tri triathlon in Lorraine's name this year to honour the friendship we shared. I would like to make this an annual effort, especially since her birthday is on the 21st of August.

If you can, please provide a donation towards this effort so that I may register and rent a wetsuit for this race. I would also like to get some tshirts with Lorraine's picture printed--if anyone can donate this, it would go along way to showing support. All additional proceeds raised will be donated to Lorraine's family once they have been located.

Let's 'Give it A Tri' for Lorraine and show our love for a friend whose brief life touched us all. I invite you all to come to Toronto Island on Aug 15 to cheer for Lorraine.

Note: At this moment we are not certain as to the exact cause of death because none of us are next of kin and are not privy to that information. As soon as we find something out, we will let everyone know.

Is what I just read true? Lorraine has passed away? What happened? I worked with Lorraine for 7 years. Knew her very well. I tried contacting her over time, never got a reply back.
